Becoming Marlene Dietrich
~ The Icon. The Legacy. The Experience ~
Becoming Marlene Dietrich album reviews:
“On Becoming Marlene Dietrich, Myriam Phiro found the sweet spot […] There are frequent, loving echoes of Dietrich, but Phiro brings her own vocal sensibilities and fresh authenticity to each track. […] Phiro is her own artist, not a Dietrich knock off. […] The songs, performed now by Phiro, take on a whole new life. […] she is becoming an artist to watch.” —Tracy Adams, Cabaret Scenes
After multiple sold out performances rendering her poignant and acclaimed tribute to Edith Piaf « PHIRO chante PIAF », Ms Phiro is offering an exciting new show about an icon referred to as « Queen of the World » the one and only Marlene Dietrich.
Phiro, deemed to be « the perfect re-enactment of a mix between Edith Piaf and Marilyn Monroe; deep, powerful, fun and sexy all at once » by Miguel Dominguez; NYC Culture & Style Magazine, pulls together all of her talents for this spectacular performance. A storyteller at heart, she conveys some of the most dramatic moments of Dietrich’s life and legacy while unveiling some of the diva’s mysteries. The songstress is musically accompanied by her long-tenured trio featuring Hyuna Park (piano & MD), Elias Bailey (upright bass) & Alex Raderman (drums) to render some of Dietrich's greatest hits and lesser-known hidden gems.
In the dimly lit cabarets of 1920’s Berlin, a legend was born. Marlene Dietrich emerged as the epitome of glamour, sensuality, and timeless allure. With her signature husky voice, enigmatic persona, and a charisma that could captivate nations, she became an iconic figure of the silver screen. “Becoming Marlene Dietrich” pays homage to this incredible diva and her indelible mark on the world of entertainment.Marlene’s legacy lives on in every sultry note, every smokey glance, and every seductive whisper. Please join us in celebrating the indomitable spirit of Marlene Dietrich: a woman far more ahead of her time, a symbol of anti-fascism and sexual freedom, and a tantalizing icon of beauty, undeniable elegance and absolute pizzazz.Bonne écoute & danke schön! <3
