January is for Jubilation!
Hello friends, I hope 2022 is off to a great start for you & yours! On my side of things, it’s been a pretty eventful January! It sure helped that it began in my beloved country, hiking a whopping 12km in Winter Wonderland (see reference photos in my previous blog post) in wonderful company and eating & drinking like royalty on NYE. The year ahead is definitely looking up! And my oh my, hasn’t it been so far…
As my birthday month is now commencing, I rejoice in reflecting upon everything I’m continuously grateful for, while wishing to welcome more. January began with a bang and perhaps through enough manifestation and appreciation, it will stay like this. Fingers crossed —the last 2 years have been a wild ride after all…
After welcoming in the New Year, I then went on to becoming Ms. Freelancer of the day (Elias actually has a new nickname for me, oh well). Bouncing from one gig to the next: from online translation to teaching artist then on to band leader/singer and booking agent, as well as brand ambassador to model, on top of moving (twice) and organizing my apartment at last, all I can say is “Whew! It’s been an intense January so far!” But you know what: I have not a single complaint.
Is it a little excessive to be jumping on all the opportunities as if there was no tomorrow? That depends on which angle you look at the picture. If you had told me 2 years ago at this very date that all my upcoming gigs would be cancelled within the following 2 weeks and work would be the scarcest it’s ever been for 2 whole years, I would have laughed it off, convinced it would never happen.
Everyone around me knows it’s in my nature to keep myself busy: I’m a real hustler at heart. If pre-pandemic, I already had a strong inclination for the hustle, I can’t begin to tell you how appreciative I am that things are finally pickup up; thus leading me into taking as much work as I can. Is it sustainable? I don’t know. How long will it last? Good question. Do I want to keep going like a machine for the rest of my life? Probably not! But right now, at this moment, I just can’t afford to turn down a single gig. Because we just don’t know what’s ahead of us, do we? Only time will tell…
So yes, you may call “Renaissance Gal” for any odd, creative, linguistically inclined and/or artistically related task! I heard she’s always happy to help ;) However, for February onward, my wish is to add in a little more quality time with friends and loved ones I’ve so dearly missed. Whether it be on a dance floor, while sipping a yummy hot beverage, experiencing an exhibition, a show or a concert, or whether it simply be for a walk in the park, I want to reconnect, in delightful company, with this city that once was so vibrant in my heart. It was known to never sleep, so if you’re reading this and you’re feeling the same way, give me a shout! I’d love to see where this’ll lead.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a picture of my 1st birthday, enjoying cake in the company of my gorgeous mom. Not much has changed I’d say! :)
