Spring has finally Sprung!
Hello dear friends!
How wonderful it is to come back to NYC in the Spring! There is a palpable energy that fills the air, and new and tangible opportunities seem to be lurking from every street corner. Soon, the blossoms on the trees will be titillating our senses with delight, leading us towards a world of new possibilities.
I had an amazing voyage in Europe! It was truly special to be able to spend quality time with my mother in the Swiss alps, where I ate alllll the cheese, hiked up a storm and enjoyed the health retreat’s benefits to its fullest. As a bonus, I also got to visit my best friend Sara in Vienna, and what a cultural and dining galore that was! Although I had truly missed the old world, I am glad to be back to commence my preparations for what looks like will be a very eventful Summer.
It seems like the whole world could use a fresh, new and reviving breath of air. With the ongoing conflict in the East, the climate crisis and the lingering pandemic, we all collectively could use a little boost. I don’t know about you but I have big hopes for this Summer! I am so thankful for the prospect of being able to congregate again, and to celebrate and enjoy all the festivities with minimal worry. Whereas the effects of our forced seclusion during these two last years may not have seemed like such a big deal to some, this precious idea of togetherness now holds a value I may not have fully appreciated before.
The pandemic has changed so much for so many, particularly those in the artistic community. Despite the numerous challenges, I’d have to say that some of these changes have also been somewhat positive for me. Recently, I have started to observe a shift in my artistic endeavors, seemingly taking my focus more into the “behind the scenes” components of events I work on. To be honest, this isn’t a very unnatural concept, as I’ve always enjoyed taking on this role, from childhood memories all through my young adult life. Considering my very first high school job as a theater director, to the college events, concerts & festivals I helped organize, to my debut as an event-planner in my early twenties until now with my very own projects: the “behind the scenes” element has always been a big part of what I do. It’s just that my louder persona, the performer, was always more “vocal” (yes, pun intended, ha!). During the pandemic however, as I was striving to develop various creative income possibilities, I have been increasingly called upon to embrace the organizer within. A means to an end at first, it turns out to be something I want to deepen and continue exploring as the pandemic is fading, with a stronger focus.
What does the future hold? No one can tell. All I know is that at the moment, I’m keeping busy while booking my 2 bands: “Nuage Rhythm” (French/gypsy Jazz band) & “The Phirocious Swing Orchestra,” as well as a few other Jazz ensembles for all sorts of events, weddings, performances and concerts. I still love to be in the “heart of the action” so to speak, but I also quite enjoy coming at it from an angle allowing me to take charge, bring a vision to life and help others. So we’ll see where it all takes me… :)
In the meantime, I look forward to sitting on a terrace and observing people go by (one of my favorite pastimes, especially in NYC!) Perhaps you’ll join me one of these days? I look forward to hearing from you soon! A bientôt Xx
