'Tis the season to be merry & thankful!

Hello friend,

I hope you’ve had a happy and safe Thanksgiving! As we delve deeper into the Holiday Season and get prepared to turn yet another calendar year, I’ve been reflecting upon all I have to be grateful for. While it’s easy to dwell into the negativity this year has brought forth, I think it’s important to also stay connected with certain things we’ve all taken for granted and that perhaps 2020 has brought to the surface.

For me, I know this time of confinement has brought major reflection and reprioritization of what’s truly important. It’s shed light on what my energy was really going into and in a way helped me eliminate the unnecessary. It has, at times, driven me crazy and at other times, brought serenity into my life. Overall, it’s been an intense mash-up of extreme emotions, loss and gains, adaptations, reorientation and stagnation. If I’m being real, I’d go into saying my biggest takeaway from it all is the internal mirror it’s obliged me to confront, and from within, instigate growth. And this is what I’m most thankful for.

It’s hard sometimes to see something needs addressing unless we take a few steps back from the intensity of action. In other words, I had been caught into my lifestyle’s train of events and stopped paying attention to certain things. When I had to halt my full steam ahead pace of life to a complete stop, certain things, behaviors or thoughts became more obvious.

Contemplation of nature’s beauty, appreciation in little pleasures, honest representation of the journey within, real rapport and healthy communication with people around me are things that have a different meaning for me now. It’s astonishing how easy it is to take these things for granted, until they completely disappear from your life! I know I sound dramatic here but that’s how it happens, right? Little by little, as we get more entrenched and stuck in our own ways… We stop noticing, appreciating or smelling the flowers altogether. Thankfully, it wasn’t exactly like that for me but nonetheless, the reconnect is real and it goes without saying that I’m thankful to have a partner who bears with me through all this big beautiful and messy work in progress. Sharing life with someone who’s willing to explore the less traveled routes, address and adjust along the way is a true blessing.

Anyways, whereas I may be far from the finish line, I’m so grateful for this door of awareness to have opened for me this year. In continuation of this beautiful Thanksgiving essence, I will be sharing some new music very soon. These 2 songs I recorded last year in the company of my dream team Hyuna Park (piano) & Elias Bailey (upright bass), “The Christmas Song” & “Let It Snow!” will be offered as a free download with each purchase of my 3-CD bundle. I invite you to consider offering the gift of music this Holiday Season while supporting my musical endeavors!

Thank you again for reading and for your continued support. I wish you health & happiness and a beautiful Holiday Season to you & yours.

With love, Myriam Xx
