A Holiday Cheer for you & yours!

Hello friends,

I hope you’ve had a happy, healthy and bountiful Thanksgiving! As we officially enter the Holiday Season and get prepared to turn yet another calendar year, I’m sending warm wishes, as well as love & appreciation your way!

We all have so much to be thankful for and this season certainly brings the sentiment of treasuring to the forefront. I consider myself lucky to be healthy and surrounded with love, music and inspiration at all times. I have a roof over my head and am strong enough to navigate the challenges encountered along the way. I don’t take the last part lightly, that’s for sure.

Being fortunate to have been surrounded by strong & vibrant women from an early age, my mother is perhaps the most shining example of these attributes and is the most driven individual I’ve ever met. Without a doubt, she has accomplished her goals and even surpassed them, despite numerous roadblocks. Her mother, my maternal grandmother Jacqueline, was also a force to reckon with and must have taught her well :) The stories of her unusual life have always filled me with great admiration, fascination and at times, sadness. Although she had a brilliant mind, she evolved during a time when women weren’t valued for their intellectual capacities. Being a strong presence all through my childhood, it goes without saying that she was a large influence on who I have become. My mother encapsulated this very well by saying she taught us courage, resilience, responsibility and independence; all qualities she fought for her entire life. After wrestling with the Alzheimer disease for the last 13 years, Jacqueline has now joined the stars above and will forever shine her bright light upon us from afar. I’m eternally grateful for all she has taught and exposed us to, including my deep love and appreciation for theater and music.

Gratitude is a mantra I strive to live by, even when the skies are filled with clouds of grey. This mindfulness has the power to turn our entire world around and change the perspective to our views. By exploring different ways to practice gratitude, I have found that one of the best (and easiest) methods is to wake up and write down what I’m grateful for immediately. Expressing gratitude first thing in the morning sets the tone for the day ahead, which may not seem like much but I feel it makes a world of difference. Another way I find particularly cathartic is by helping/giving without expecting anything in return. For those who know Elias and his big and generous heart, you’ll agree he excels at this art form.

In continuation of this beautiful Thanksgiving essence, I’d love to share 2 songs I recorded just before the pandemic started (in late 2019) in the company of my dream team Hyuna Park (piano) & Elias Bailey (upright bass): “The Christmas Song” & “Let It Snow!”. Although last year, these 2 songs were offered as a free download with each purchase of my 3-CD bundle (which btw is still available for purchase with my 15% holiday discount wink wink), I decided to make them available to all my subscribers as a gesture of gratitude. If you’re feeling the Christmas spirit also, I invite you to consider offering the gift of music this Holiday Season while supporting my musical endeavors! I heard that my 3-CD bundle makes for an excellent stocking stuffer! ;) (Enter code “JOY” at checkout for a 15% discount)

Thank you again for reading and for your continued support. Let’s all continue this beautiful wave of gratitude and perhaps we’ll help to make the world a better place, collectively. I wish you health & happiness and a beautiful Holiday Season to you & yours.

With gratitude, Myriam Xx
